- Abstract
Studies about cardiovascular risk indicators in students are important. The objective of this study was to associate systolic blood pressure (SAP), diastolic blood pressure (DAP) with anthropometric measurement values, sedentarism, smoking and drinking of students who presented altered arterial pressure in three evaluations. Follow-up study, performed from 2004 to 2006, at a public school in Fortaleza. Four hundred eighty subjects between six and eighteen years old were evaluated for risk indicators and blood pressure. Students that presented, in a previous selection, blood pressure percentiles above the normal were accompanied in two more evaluations (85 children and teenagers). In children SAP values were correlated positive and significantly with age and height. DAP values were correlated with hip circumference, weight and height. In teenagers SAP and DAP values were correlated with height. This study confirms importance of evaluating and following risk indicators and blood pressure in students.
