- Authors
Shoolbraid, Murray
- Abstract
The article discusses the argument that there are two basic tunes involved in the Newfoundland folk-song "Lukey's Boat." It cites Greenleaf and Mansfield's "Ballads and Sea Songs of Newfoundland" as an example of the Newfoundland version. The second tune is described which was collected in Nova Scotia by Helen Creighton and published in "Songs and Ballads of Nova Scotia. A look at commercial versions of the song is provided, including "Voice of Newfoundland" by John White and "Sagebrush Sam," by Omar Blondahl.
