- Abstract
The article reports on the Patient Safety Alert issued by the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) on November 24, 2009 to introduce safer spinal and epidural devices to lessen the risk of wrong route errors in Great Britain. The safety alert requires National Health Service (NHS) organisations to avoid the use of luer universal connectors and intravenous infusion spikes in spinal, epidural and regional devices. The implications of this alert for medical devices suppliers are discussed.
