- Abstract
The article focuses on the essential role of families and other supporters in managing the proper disclosure of the medical information of patients with mental disease. It states that clinicians should consider mentally ill patients' decision to keep his/her medical information private as they might have good reasons to maintain privacy. It adds that doctors are permitted to speak and gather information from the patient's family members and friends to learn about their medical history.
