The article discusses the research on biogeochemistry. The two sites in the Pacific Ocean were selected, one at the margin and one in the open ocean where DNA was drew out from each site. It was found out 16S rRNA determining that distinct populations were present in the sampling area. The results suggest that geological processes have shaped microbial communities in order to contribute to the ecosystem through biogeochemical processes.
