- Title
Making Difficult Decisions.
- Authors
Murdach, Allison D.
- Abstract
The article discusses the steps on the helping processes used by social workers to facilitate client decision making in difficult situations. The author says that trust is the basic foundation for work with clients facing difficult decisions. By offering consolation, the helper is allowed to reach out to clients dealing with difficult decisions. It also encourages clients to be more open to the prospect of hope. In reviewing the past experiences, the social workers must know about how clients have developed strategies to deal with past challenges in their lives. Negotiation is also a part of the helping process which involves a give-and-take among participants until a plan is consented. The author also emphasizes the importance of providing clients with recommendations.
