Abstract
The article reports on the initiative conducted by the scientists of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) regarding the significance of studying pet dogs with cancer in the diagnosis of human cancers in Bethesda, Maryland. It cites that the research can be of great help in the development of human cancer devices, drugs and imaging strategies. It estimates that more than one million cancer diagnoses occur in dogs each year in the U.S., in which the condition is treated similar to human.
