- Abstract
The article discusses role of "ming" played in the Tao Te Ching. Topics discussed include problems associated with the name of the Dao in translating the verse into English depending on whether it is regarded as addressing the Dao; philosophically mature, or alternatively alarmingly nihilistic, attitude in late outcome in the sequence of "Daoist ethics"; and information on contradictory nature of the Daodejing.
