- Abstract
The article discusses the French Parliamentary election of 1986. This paper focuses on the denial of the presidential dominance in the general election when Francois Mitterrand of the Socialist Party lost its parliamentary majority to the Gaullists and Centrists of the right-wing coalition. The reasons of the Socialist defeat which resulted from the loss of parliamentary base by Mitterrand has evoked choices of Marxist against Socialist policies. Marginalization and cohabitation of power in government during this period is further discussed.
