- Abstract
The article features a primary document that demonstrate the vast range of creative responses to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera "Die Zauberflöte," that is, an imaginary dialogue published in 1801 between librettist Emanuel Schikanader and Mozart's ghost. The dialogue occurred on the occasion of "Die Zauberflöte" premier at Karntnertor Theater in Vienna, Austria. The dialogue summarizes the vicissitudes of the Singspiel in the initial decade of its popularity. It also explores the themes of authorship and ownership.
