- Abstract
Objective: The objective of the research is to collect the perception of managers about the reverse logistics of expended ammunition generated by brazilian public security institutions during training exercises with an assessment of their maturity in relation to the topic. Theoretical Framework: The main concepts and theories related to information management (obtaining information, organization and storage, distribution of information and use of information), reverse logistics and sustainability management for the actions of manufacturers, the government and society. Method: Comprises a case study applied by the delimitations of the reality of ammunition disposal in police forces, the identification of criteria, based on sources from different public security institutions. Data collection was carried out through interviews, with the aim of identifying the perception of reality regarding the level of awareness of reverse logistics applied to the management ammunition and waste. Results and Discussion: The results demonstrated that only in the South and Southeast of Brazil, institutions with installed maturity were observed in the selected sample. In the other regions, the level of maturity was verified at an initial stage and in progress. Police institutions were found to be carrying out reverse logistics of expended ammunition in an initial manner, while the majority are still evaluating or testing testing its feasibility. Research Implications: Public security institutions can self-assess their maturity and then implement actions, from requirements to waste management itself, to promote the reverse logistics of expended ammunition during training exercises. Originality/Value: It lies in connecting reverse logistics of expended ammunition generated by brazilian public security institutions with sustainability, proposing practical solutions to a complex problem, and is also useful to other institutions facing similar challenges, overcoming institutional barriers.
