- Abstract
Cultural heritage tourism is an information source conveying history and culture of a place and people. This source needs technologies affecting visitors' expectations and learning experiences. The immersive technologies are used to enhance them. These technologies tend to transfer information about cultural heritage to the masses and to personalize experience. The factors enabling user to interact with the content through them are innovative actions and educational opportunities based on participation and experience. In particular, augmented reality technologies add layers of digital information to the real world simultaneously, and involve the user in the physical space with virtual data. Hence, reality becomes complete rather than completely changed. They make it possible to "see what your eyes cannot reach", "see what your eyes cannot see", "tell you what you are seeing" and "see with more eyes". The important thing is not to be detached from the physical space and context. Today, some traditional or new generation mobile maps and travel guides allow users to have information and discover new places, while causing them to pay less attention to the environment and focus on the content and the vehicle transmiting it. This limits the user's interaction with the physical world and puts him in simulated environments. However these technologies clearly relate information about cultural routes with the physical environment. So in the study, the document analysis as a qualitative data analysis method, has been used. The study aims to convey data on how augmented reality technologies are used in cultural heritage tourism from a building to a city through applications.
