- Abstract
The article focuses on the uprising and protests to the Syrian regime which affects the country's society and politics. It says that the regime work hard to exacerbate and reproduce the divisions among sect, class, and ethnicity. It mentions that the regime forged capital networks which binded elite business sectors to venture into the commercial realm. It adds that the regime tried to beat the uprising in the northwestern city of Hama, Syria which results to the deaths of 15,000 residents. Furthermore, the regime consolidated its alliance with big business with the expense of the Syrian majority, who depended on the state for welfare and subsidies.
