- Title
Nigeria: Deadly Boat Accidents.
- Abstract
Boat accidents in Nigeria have resulted in numerous deaths and disappearances, particularly during the rainy season when waterways become more dangerous. In Kebbi state, at least 40 people are missing and presumed drowned after a passenger boat capsized in strong currents. Additionally, between September 2nd and October 2nd, 53 people were killed in six separate boat incidents in Niger state. Experts are calling for concrete measures to address the issue, including the provision of modern boats to replace the unsafe wooden barges and canoes currently used for transportation.
