- Abstract
The article presents a study focusing on the rodent trade of Tzeltal Indians of Oxchuc in Chiapas, Mexico. It aims to pioneer the quantitative analysis of small rodent trade and consumption in the area to fulfill previous studies on the reported rodents and consumption and trade in Chiapa's indigenous communities. The authors highlight the need for advocating programs covering the sustainable use of wild rodents through the formation of a Wildlife Conservation and Management Unit (UMA). Apart from this, they also emphasize the significance of further research on rodent trade and consumption that shall look into the biological and economic aspects of these activities.
