- Abstract
The home enteral nutrition therapy (HENT) is a form of health care and nutrition at home that seeks to preserve the family ties together the multidisciplinary care, especially nutrition. HENT is important because it often converges to the principles of food security (FS); due to the act of not eating by mouth, individuals sometimes are affected by the worsening of FS in their family / household. Since feeding has social power and cultural significance, the needs of patients and their families cannot be ignored in situations the use of HENT is demanded. Their needs must be fully met, considering the principles that FS includes: quantity, quality, diversity, access to food, permanently, also ruled the Human Right to Adequate Food (HRAF) within HENT.
