- Abstract
This article discusses the presence of osteoarthrosis and osteoarthritis in the temporomandibular joints (TMJs). It is stated that osteoarthrosis/osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common degenerative temporomandibular disorder (TMD), with its prevalence increasing with age and more often occurring in women. Theories of the etiology of the disease are examined. Some of its most common symptoms are described, including pain and tenderness, stiffness and tiredness, and reduced range of motion, with pain often aggravated by mastication.
