- Abstract
The third was that training staff inthe evidence-based practice without fidelitystaff to assist them with application of themodel within the context of challenging casesmay lead staff to view the new model simplyas a mandate with no flexibility regardinghow to best apply the model to a range of scenarioswhile still maintaining fidelity. Fidelity Raters Selection of the evidence-based practice toevaluate combined with the type of fidelitymeasurement to be used should guide theselection of fidelity raters within agencies. The complexity of the practiceto be evaluated, the sophistication of thefidelity measurement tools, expectations offidelity raters to coach staff, and the level ofexperience of the fidelity staff with both thepractices to be evaluated and the evaluationmethodology all dictate the level and type oftraining that will be required for the staff chosento implement fidelity procedures. Responsesto both staff deemed proficient and demonstratinghigh fidelity and staff deemed notproficient and lacking in fidelity should bedetermined and communicated to staff priorto launching any formal fidelity initiatives.
