- Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the performance of two optimization models integrated into a model of discrete event simulation. The first optimization model was developed with the commercial tool OptQuest, which integrates the development environment of simulation models of the software Arena. The second was designed from a genetic algorithm executed in VBA and integrated to the same simulation model. Both models were developed with the same objective and the same parameters of the discussed system. The execution of the simulations of the integrated models was preceded by an analysis of the factors that most influenced the simulated experiments. The results showed that the relationship between the complexity of the model and the performance of the optimization with the commercial tool behaved inversely proportional. That is, as the complexity of the simulation model increased, the performance of the optimization carried out with the OptQuest was reduced.
