- Abstract
The article reports on the registration of induced semidwarf rice mutant DR1 by the Agriculture Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Released in February 2005, the mutant was induced in a tall Arkansas rice cultivar to obtain semidwarfism in adapted germplasm. Starting 1999, methods were already employed to obtain semidwarfism in rice including the treatment of its parent cultivar with 270 Gy of gamma rays. The rice mutant is said to be the 12th semidwarft mutant induced in tall Arkansas cultivars.
