- Abstract
Joints in timber engineering with cast-in connectors The increasing usage of timber in structures has led to higher requirements for load-bearing capacities and usability for constructions - including high performance joints. This paper presents solutions for connecting details in timber constructions to carry tension, compression and bending loads, which are appropriate for the anisotropic material timber. A polymer compound grout allows cast-in connectors made of standardized or customized steel members. The polymer grout enables a rigid connection between the connector and the timber. Such joints are convenient for assembling structural elements of timber or with constructions made of steel or concrete - fast and simple. The polymer grout can also be used to distribute a high compression load through a timber element perpendicular to the grain, as it appears in multiple storey buildings at crossing points. Further information about the special numerical models (3D FEM) are provided to determine the polymer grout and the very special material timber.
