- Abstract
This study aimed to understand the factors that generate psychological distress in the nursing staff of the Mobile Emergency Care Service - SAMU in the region of Bragança Paulista - SP. It was a descriptive, exploratory, field study with a quantitative approach. Data collection was performed after approval by the Research Ethics Committee of Universidade São Francisco with 6 nurses who worked at SAMU. As for the results, it was observed that the risk factors related to psychological distress took into account issues related to working hours, double shifts, personal needs and lifestyle habits, to more specific issues related to the characteristics of the emergency service and emergency and working conditions. Therefore, it is concluded that recognizing factors that contribute to the illness of professionals and devising strategies to minimize damage can bring great advantages, both for the worker and for the institution.
