- Abstract
International and Hungarian researchers in pedagogy, psychology, and anthropology have been examining the elements of visual representations of the individual for a few decades. The research focuses on this interdisciplinary field, including also the history of childhood and the history of the idea/notion/image of the child. Based on the iconographic examination of the press photos in some issues of the pedagogical periodical «Tanító» ("Teacher") from fifties to eighties, the research retraces standard, identifiable elements and patterns in the photographic material of these issues, identifying the elements and meanings through which the goals of education have become photographically visible in the Hungarian educational trade press.
