- Abstract
Upbringing and education are complex social and personal processes. The development of the quality of these processes requires the understanding of specific social situations, which leads pedagogical researches to qualitative paradigm. Commensurability of research paradigms and the need to understand and explain social phenomena can be achieved through group discussion and by applying the Delphi Method qualitative and quantitative research can be successfully connected. In pedagogical researches Delphi Method includes the implementation of organized and structured scientific procedure, which enables anonymous correlation of information on the subject area, discussion, evaluation and making observations without social pressure. Modified forms of the Delphi Method have been increasingly used in the process of creating educational curricula, (re)defining of particular terms, harmonization of standards, deciding on optimal measures and actions, as well as on development of educational practice. The inclusion of the experts of different profiles, as well as of professionally engaged practitioners, provides comprehensive understanding of incidences for which not all the data are available or are difficult to quantify. Delphi Method is not a substitute for professional studies, but it can stimulate the generation of ideas and provide quality guidelines for action.
