- Abstract
The article explores the how and why Chinese author Lu Xun used pseudonyms. It states that these pseudonyms reveal his life trajectory in China. It mentions that he used pseudonyms as a way to avoid being arrested during the years of the White Terror in the country and escape the Koumintang's net of censorship. It adds that many of his pseudonyms indicate the Southern origin of his family. According to his wife Xu Guangping, he did not pick his pennames randomly.
