- Abstract
This research aimed to know the self-representations, and their motives, of 40 adolescents with indications of high abilities/giftedness, between 14 and 18 years old, equally divided as regard the sex and type of giftedness (schoolhouse or creative productive). Therefore, we asked, through Piaget's clinical method, what each participant admired in him/herself and the justification for each presented answer. Overall, it was mentioned 134 self-images, with emphasis on the themes 'personality traits', 'interpersonal skills', 'cognitive abilities' and 'moral dimension'. The justifications for self-admirations, exhibited, with similar proportions, both individualistic content, linked to self-esteem and hedonism, and contents of moral and ethical perspectives, related to self-respect, moral values and coexistence with others in a society of just institutions. Finally, we hope that our study motivate psychopedagogical actions that promote positive self-representations and enable students to expand themselves in the world, as well as to cooperate in the formation of a society guided by ethics and morals.
