- Abstract
Operations Research offers managers the opportunity to make more efficient decisions, since it is based on deterministic methods such as linear programming, through scientific and mathematical models bases. The recent years have seen a great demand for solving linear programming problems, particularly those modeled as the shortest path. In this context, the present study aims at the implementation of Shortest Path Problem in a Catalan appliance store, Goiás, in order to define the best path that minimizes the distances from the store to the warehouse where the products are stored. For this, we used linear programming, which uses the support of mathematical modeling to shape real problems. Therefore, the research procedures adopted were the case study and experimental research. The mathematical model of the study was prepared and clarified using the LINDO software thus through the results it was observed that the optimal route proven in this study by mathematical techniques is the same used by the driver that is based on empirical methods. The proposed study certifies that operations research and linear programming are efficient methodologies in solving problems as presented.
