- Abstract
The article reports on the performance of cotton's share of all manufactured products by the National Cotton Council in the U.S. in 1979. It cites that cotton's share was down slightly by 25% from a 27% share in 1977. According to the article, apparel accounted for about 53% of the 6,158,000 bales consumed while home furnishings took 33% and industrial uses 14%. Moreover, it mentions that consumption in apparel was higher than in 1978 but declines were accounted in home furnishings and industrial uses.
