- Abstract
The article discusses the report of Matt Kenyon, a born-again forester, of his new career in the woods with Pete McKinley in England. It notes that as the youngest in the felling trade, they have been working in a number of different types of woods, some for the owners and some for a management company, Fountain Forestry. According to Matt, the difference between using mechanical harvesters is that they need to cut 100 cubic meters per day to pay for themselves and leave a mess. On the other hand, Matt and Pete needed only 20-25 cubic meter of fire wood per day and they leave the under storey in a healthy state to promote the regeneration of trees. Illustrations of piled woods, Matt and Pete's mobile office and cordwoods ready for collection are also presented.
