- Abstract
This study conducted to determine plant nutrition values in chestnut plantations soil samples taken from chestnut orchards were analyzed for their chemical and physical characteristics. The research was carried out with 26 different soil samples taken from 0-30 cm depth in 2004 in Nazilli-Aydın, which has an important role in chestnut production. Soil texture, pH, total salt (%), CaCO3 (%), organic matter (%), total N (%), exchangeable K, Ca, Mg and Na; available P, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu of analyzed soil samples were established in this study. Analysis results were evaluated comparing them to recommended measure of value (limit) in terms of productivity parameters studied. Results showed that soil texture is loamy, soluble solid content is saltless, soil pH produces weak and normal alkalin reaction, CaCO3 percent is termed calcareous, organic matter is poor, azote and potassium contents are low and chestnut orchards are quite satisfactory in terms of elements as P, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu.
