- Abstract
Nutrition plays a vital role in brain function, cognitive development, and cognitive capabilities. Nutrition is critical from the fetal stage throughout the lifespan. An individual brain that is structured in the best form possible has the necessary reserve to deal with situations or potential illnesses. Cognitive decline starts during the latter stages of fetal development. Given the fact that not all effects can be overturned or minimized, the focus needs to be on early intervention, such as ensuring iron intake during fetal development. This intervention is crucial to allow for optimal neurodevelopment and cognitive function. When adequate nutrition is present, cognitive functioning can be at its optimal level.
