- Abstract
On the basis of existing theories and a case study of new energy industrial parks in China, this paper aims to provide a greater understanding of territorial embeddedness and its policy implications in the context of a developing country. From a territory-actor perspective, we argue that there are some reactions between territory and economic actors. We propose that territorial embeddedness conducts in two processes: one intentional process by regrouping firms and other organizations with the purpose of encouraging the creation of innovation network and share of resources; and one unintentional process by creating new rules, practices and performances. The results indicate that the industrial park can be an efficient political tool for regional development in emerging countries. In the meanwhile, local government in developing countries should prepare physical and non physical infrastructure, facilitate the creation of network and social integration in industrial parks.
