- Abstract
Although there are different definitions of fashion and art, it is known that the relationship between fashion and art has been accepted from the past. Fashion, like art, inspires from the society. While art is a tool used to express the feelings that people experience in the inner world, fashion also is used as a self-expression in the society. The idea of wearable art began to appear in the 19th century. After the 1960‟s, fashion started to change rapidly and art movements managed to influence fashion. Surrealism, based on the thoughts of Sigmund Freud is a stream of art dominated by free and creative thinking. Surrealism movement has been translated into Turkish as “gerçeküstü akım” ”. While interactions between surrealist artists and fashion designers were reflected in designs, it also led to the formation of different designs in clothes. Nowadays, the works of the artists leading this trend are reflected in the designs. The aim of this study is to reflect this art movement, whose traces are still ongoing into new design by interpreting it. These designs were enriched in computer environment and their visuals were presented.
