SENDRA IBÁÑEZ, Juan Antonio
- Abstract
The Puçol hoard was found in an ossuary associated to a necropolis next to the old church of this locality during an excavation carried out in 2001. The find consists of 19 coins, one gold and the rest silver. The origin of its pieces is particularly interesting since the castilian mint, with 16 specimens, clearly prevails over the local Valencian dieciochenos, which are only represented by three pieces. The hoard is a part of the small group of finds dated to Modern Age Valencian foral period and through its composition it confirms the data known to date in the documentation of the time of circulation of Castilian currency in the Kingdom of Valencia during the first half of the seventeenth century.
