- Title
The Application of EU Competition Law in the Energy Sector.
- Authors

- Abstract
The European Commission focused its enforcement of EU competition law in the energy sector in 2013 on practices that directly hindered cross-border trade with the continued investigation into Gazprom's conduct on the gas markets in Central and Eastern Europe leading the way.National competition authorities continued to prioritise the energy sec-tor in their work, as rising energy prices had a direct impact on con-sumers.A major topic which came into the focus in 2013 was the relationship between the internal energy market and the design of schemes to grow the share of renewable energy across Member States. It appears questionable whether all of the existing aid schemes are in line with state aid regulation and the design of new, pan-european rules promises to be a highly controversial topic.
