The article offers information on the history, purpose and significance of the labeling theory as applied to the New Jersey Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act. It discusses the legislative history to the Act passed by the New Jersey legislature in 2011, in response to several bullying incidents reported in the media such as the suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi.
