- Abstract
The article is devoted to the improvement of the mechanical properties of reinforcing steel by means of combined deformation and heat treatment. One of the promising methods of hardening heat treatment is quenching from rolling heating (the metal is quenched immediately after leaving the finishing stand of the rolling mill). This type of heat treatment is combined with the process of hot plastic deformation and is based on the use of the residual heat of metal heating after hot rolling. It has the following advantages compared to other methods of hardening heat treatment: there is a steady relationship between the amount of martensite in the surface layers of reinforcing bars and the self-tempering temperature, which makes it possible to control and manage the process of thermal hardening of steel; the use of heat-strengthened rolled products with high mechanical properties in the sectors of the economy leads to a decrease in operating and capital costs in areas that consume hardened rolled products.
