- Abstract
The article presents a study on the efficacy of amifostine in reduction of toxicities linked with the platinum-containing regimens in children with hepatoblastoma (HB). It notes that amifostine is an agent for the protection of normal cells from the toxic effects of radiation and chemotherapy. The study evaluates the renal and bone marrow toxicities in patients who received amifostine and for patients who did not. It suggests that amifostine failed to reduce the toxicities in patients with HB.
