- Title
Value Pluralism and the Two Concepts of Rights.
- Authors
Spector, Horacio
- Abstract
The article presents the author's assertion that value pluralism of British philosopher Isaiah Berlin can illuminate the debate over the "will theory" and "interest theory" of rights, both, moral and legal. He argues that the two theories are not explaining the properties of rights for they reflect the meaning of rights within rival and incommensurable value paradigms existing in moral and legal culture. He also explores the idea that is kindred to philosophy of science and in moral philosophy.
