- Title
Protein structure gets exciting.

- Abstract
The article focuses on the observation of the excited-state structure of a small protein, called the FF domain, by scientist Lewis Kay and his colleagues using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. It discusses the experimental challenge in the isolation of excited-state proteins because of their very small percentage of existence in a population. It describes how Kay's group applied relaxation dispersion experiments to solve the structure of folding intermediates of the FF domain.
