- Title
The Persistence of Mormon Plural Marriage.
- Authors
Hardy, B. Carmon
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the persistence of the practice of plural marriage in some Mormon communities. Particular focus is given to the theological aspects of polygamy. According to the author, the centrality of this practice to the 19th-century Mormon Church has ensured its continuing attractiveness. Details on the Mormon Church's later efforts to distance itself from plural marriage are presented. The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) is also discussed.
