- Authors
Ramírez, Susan Elizabeth
- Abstract
The article discusses several contributions of the recent research about Andes particularly in their native societies, social history, and the mounting instability during the 18th century. It tackles the works of William Prescott on the history of their empire during the middle of the 19th century, Heinrich Cunov who focused on the Inca state as a socialist, utopian empire, L. Leland Locke on examining the indigenous point of view through quipus, and Peter Bakewell on a biography of the mountain of silver at the high plain of Bolivia. Sinclair Thomson and Sergio Serulnikov studied the state's material demands based on the grievances within communities.
