- Abstract
Prostate cancer is one of the most common male neoplasms worldwide; the diagnosis is based on the use of prostate-specific antigen, digital rectal examination and prostate biopsy. Understanding the molecular characteristics, that is, characterization of the genes that are involved in their appearance, progression and development of resistance will allow physicians to personalize better diagnoses and directed treatments. With this knowledge, in the near future, it will be possible to reach earlier and more accurate diagnosis through blood tests, without the need to perform transrectal biopsies.
