- Title
Thumbs up/thumbs down: When a child declines to speak.
- Authors
BALDWIN, EMORY LUCE
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the methods to be used when a child refuses to speak in a narrative therapeutic session. The author mentions that if such situation exists, inviting children in a non-verbal conversation allows adults to guess on the intentions, purposes, and efforts of the children in the therapeutic session. She adds that the child can be turned away from the clinician but there woould always be a gesture if he is okay or not.
