- Title
PA staple fibers for nonwovens.
- Abstract
The article provides information on the world market for polyamide staple fibers for nonwovens in 2002. Rhodia Technical Fibers estimates the world market for polyamide staple fibers (PA 6, PA 66) for nonwovens in 2002 at approximately 45,000 tons, where Rhodia, with a share of approximately 31 percent, should be the market leader. The most important markets for polyamide staple fibers here are interlinings and paper machine felts. The processing of polyamide fibers in nonwovens is done in 3 titer areas: fine titer for interlinings and battery separators, medium titers for shoe linings, tennis balls and coarse titer for paper machine felts, abrasives and carpet applications. The Rhodia product range for paper machine clothing includes high molecular weight staple fibers in the titer range of 3.3 to 100 dtex, and monofilaments for press felts, PA 6 and PET monofilaments for forming fabrics and PET monofilaments.
