- Abstract
"Urbanization in the Global South: Perspectives and Challenges" is a book that addresses the gap in urbanization literature by focusing on the Global South. The book covers a wide range of topics including the relationship between urbanization and economic growth, poverty, food and livelihood security, as well as challenges in making cities engines of economic growth. It also discusses issues related to water management, sanitation, solid waste management, and environmental aspects of urbanization. The book emphasizes the importance of sustainable development goals and offers valuable insights for academics, policymakers, and practitioners. However, it could have included more discussions on the relationship between the issues raised and the United Nations' sustainable development goals, as well as themes such as infrastructure and gender, smart cities, and local democracies.
