- Title
Apple allergy across Europe: how allergen sensitization profiles determine the clinical expression of allergies to plant foods.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study on how apple allergens affect the severity of food allergy on patients with a positive case history and a skin-prick test response to fresh apple in Europe. Patients were selected from Austria, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, while radioallergosorbert tests were conducted. Findings showed that patients from Austria, Italy and the Netherlands have mild apple allergen related to birch pollen and sensitization to Bet v 1 and its apple homologue, Mal d 1.
