Piracy Attacks In East And West Africa Dominate World Report.
- Abstract
The article discusses the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Maritime Bureau's (IMB) global piracy report that showed that majority of pirate attacks against vessels that were reported in 2011 took place in East and West Africa. It reveals that 275 of the 439 piracy attacks in 2011 were on the east coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Guinea on the west coast of Africa. It also notes that 802 crew members were taken hostage and eight of which were killed throughout 2011.
