- Abstract
This scientific letter discusses a rare case of a perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa) in a 10-year-old male patient with rectal bleeding and a mass in the rectum. PEComas are extremely rare tumors composed of perivascular epithelioid cells and can occur in various locations in the body. The diagnosis was confirmed through immunohistochemical examination, and the patient was referred for further testing and evaluation. The article provides clinical information and discusses the differential diagnosis of PEComa. The preferred treatment for PEComas is complete surgical resection, and long-term follow-up is necessary. The article concludes by stating that PEComas are extremely rare in the pediatric population and may be misdiagnosed in the rectum.
