- Title
Warm-up and metrics of song performance: a commentary on Vazquez-Cardona et al.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the warm-up effect in Adelaide's warblers, specifically focusing on the metrics of song performance. The study found that singing at high rates during the dawn chorus increased song performance, as evaluated by two metrics based on trade-offs between different song traits. However, the methods used in the study were criticized for producing metrics that were artificially correlated with one of the acoustic traits, instead of assessing overall performance. The article suggests using a double quantile regression (DQR) approach to accurately assess song performance and test for warm-up effects.
